COVID-19 News Update

Current Restricions for Comunidad Valenciana

valid from Tuesday 8th June 2021 until the end of June

THE BORDERS of the Communidad Valenciana are open.

There is NO LIMIT on the number of people who can gather in private homes or in the street.

BARS AND RESTAURANTS may open 100% of their licensed terrace capacity and 50% of their interior licensed capacity until 1.00am each evening. Drinks and food must be consumed whilst sitting at a table. There is a maximum of 10 people per table or group of tables (unless they live together) and the appropriate distancing must be applied between separate tables, which is 1.5 metres on the terrace and 2.0m inside with the respect to occupancy of chairs, rather than the tables themselves. Professional live music is permitted but dancing is not. Smoking is not permitted on the terraces.

NIGHTLIFE VENUES may open 100% of their licensed terrace capacity and 50% of their interior licensed capacity until 2.00am each evening but dancing is not permitted.

FACE MASKS must be worn at all times by those aged six years and above on the public highway and in outdoor spaces and any closed space for public use or open to the public. Masks need not be worn on a beach if the person is static (i.e. not walking around) and maintains the minimum social distance of 1.5 metres from other beach users nor for actual bathing in the sea. Masks must be worn at the table in bars and restaurants at all times, except at the moment of eating or drinking.

Vaccination Information

Mass Vaccination Point – Portal del Clot, Xàbia

Vaccines are now being administered in the multipurpose room in the municipal building at Portal del Clot. You will summoned by SMS to attend this vaccination point on a specific date and time. On arrival, there is a marquee which provides protection from the elements – including the sun – and here there is the first of three checks you will have pass through in order to get vaccinated. Have your SIP card ready. The first check is basically ticking you off the list of the day’s apppointments; you don’t necessarily have to wait for the exact time as we arrived 30 minutes early and were allowed straight in. Just inside the door of the vaccination point, a second check will require you to use hand gel to disinfect your hands whilst someone will check your body temperature. The third desk inside the room will check your SIP details before you are shown to one of the nearby areas to be vaccinated; the jab takes just seconds and is absolutely painless. You’ll then be asked to take a seat and wait 15 minutes before leaving the room. It’s all very simple and efficient.

With regards to the EU COVID Certificate, it has been advised to wait a few days before downloading it, allowing for the system to be updated.

I HAVE A SIP: You will be contacted by the Health service when your vaccination is due. Therefore you should ensure that your details are up-to-date, particularly your mobile number as an SMS will be sent out with appointment details. You can check your information online (with or without a digital certificate or electronic ID) and amend if necessary in the following link or go direct to the health centre.

You can also check on the progress of the vaccination campaign in the following link. If your age group is listed as being “Completada” – which means that the administration of the vaccine for it has concluded – don’t despair; you simply need to contact your health centre to arrange an appointment to receive a jab.

I DON’T HAVE A SIP: If you don’t have a SIP number, have private health insurance, etc., you won’t be excluded. But you do need to contact the health authorities as soon as possible. You can do this by several options. The easiest is by email – acredita@marinasalud.es – with the following documentation attached: a padrón certificate which is less than three months old and an identication document, such as a passport. You must also include a telephone number in the text so that you can be contacted. You can also ask for an administrative appointment on 96 564 8604 or 96 642 90 00. Or you can go direct to the health centre, taking along a valid padrón certificate and your ID.

Vaccination FAQs

The GVA Sanidad website has created a special section to answer Frequently Asked Questions about the vaccines as well as give information about what you should know before receiving the jab.

NEWS

The Comunidad Valenciana has received 174,330 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, an increase of 39.3% on the previous week. The doses will be allocated thus: 25,740 Castellón, 87,750 Valencia, and 60,840 Alicante. A further 190,000 doses are expected to be delivered to the region next Monday 3rd May.

The regional ministry of health has published an update on the origin of the massive outbreak at a student residence in Valencia reported on Saturday which caused more than 100 cases (89 students and staff plus 15 relatives of staff). A study has concluded that the most likely hypothesis is that initial infection occurred during the Easter holidays and it was brought back to the residence where it subsequently spread among students and staff. This rules out the origin of the outbreak being within the student residence itself. The venue has been put into isolation until May 1st.

The regional ministry of education has reported that 99.9% of the 47,000 ‘bubbles’ in publicly-funded schools in the Comunidad Valenciana attended face-to-face classes without any incidents.
