Ximo Puig: more than 15% of Valencians will have received at least one vaccine dose by next week

He claims that 224,000 doses will be administered in a week, a “record” figure for the Comunidad.

The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, has announced that some 224,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be administered next week, which will mean that more than one million vaccines will have been given and that more than 15% of Valencians will have received at least the first dose.

During a visit to Gandía, the president took stock of the vaccination campaign in the Comunidad Valenciana and claimed that the 224,000 doses expected to be administered will represent a “record” number for a single week.

Specifically, he explained that 123,000 Pfizer vaccines will be given, of which 120,000 will be administered to those people over 80 years of age, as well as 79 and 78 year old, whilst the other 3,000 doses will consist of second jabs to be given to groups who have already received their first injection.

In addition, 3,200 second doses of the Moderna vaccine will be administered to those who have already received the first dose, whilst another 91,500 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine will be give to those people aged 64 and 65 years and 5,840 doses to other social and health groups.

Vaccination Report

The president reported that 921,484 doses of vaccine has been administered in the Comunidad Valenciana; 12.36% of Valencians have received their first dose and 5.7% have completed the two-dose course.

Elderly residents have received 29,726 first doses and 26,817 second doses, which means that 98% have received one dose whilst 90% have completed the course.

240,966 first doses have been administered to people over 80 years of age (84%) with 122,632 having completed the two-dose course (43%).

With regards to medical and social health personnel, 161,382 has received their first dose (90%) whilst 114,989 had completed the two-dose course (64.5%). Likewise, 43,014 full-time dependents has received their first dose whilst 22,280 have completed the two-dose course.

Finally, security bodies and civil protection groups have received 25,333 first doses (86%) as well as 125,195 teaching personnel (86%).
