Valencia vaccinates almost 5,000 people with new Janssen vaccine this week

People in the age group of 70 to 79 years are being administered with this single dose type.

Thursday 22nd April 2021 – PRESS RELEASE with Mike Smith

The Department of Universal Health and Public Health in the Comunidad Valenciana has received 14,600 doses of the Janssen vaccine, which will speed up the vaccination process against coronavirus in the region.

During this week, this type of vaccine is being administered to 4,894 people in the age group 70 to 79 years, who have been summoned to the health centres where the vaccination process is being hosted. These people will be immunized against COVID-19 since the Janssen vaccine only requires the administration of a single dose.

The health centres correspond to the 48 Basic Zones that have been selected as Vaccination Points, in order to bring the vaccine to the citizens of certain areas of the region, and thus avoid a need for movement and transport.

Next week, the Department of Health will distribute the rest of the doses of Janssen’s vaccine to the Basic Health Zones to vaccinate people born between 1941 and 1948.
