VIRUS UPDATE: Active cases across Valencian region drop by 60% in two weeks

The Comunidad Valenciana records 349 new positives and 618 recoveries but downward trend slows.

349 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed through PCR or antigen tests; by province, the distribution of these new cases is 46 in Castellón, 172 in Valencia, and 131 in Alicante. In total, 381,919 positive cases have been recorded in the Comunidad Valenciana. There are currently 3 unassigned cases.

Outbreaks

There have been a total of 9 new outbreaks of the disease across the Comunidad Valenciana, 2 in the province of Castellón, 6 in the province of Valencia and 1 in the province of Alicante, Elche.

The origins of these new outbreaks in the Valencian region can be assigned as follows:

  • 67% social
  • 22% work
  • 11% education

Active Cases

The data shows that there are currently 5,604 active cases of COVID-19 in the Comunidad Valenciana, which represents 1.42% of the total number of positives cases recorded.

Deaths

There have been 38 deaths from COVID-19, bringing the total for the Comunidad Valenciana to 6,911 people; by province, the distribution of the deaths is 766 Castellón, 3,539 Valencia, and 2,606 Alicante.

Hospitalization

There are 744 people currently in hospitals across the Comunidad Valenciana who are being treated for the COVID-19 infection; by province, the distribution is 61 Castellón with 7 patients in ICU, 345 Valencia with 95 in ICU, and 338 Alicante with 89 in ICU.

Recoveries

618 new recoveries from COVID-19 have been registered; in total, 380,881 people in the Comunidad Valenciana have overcome the disease since the pandemic began.

Vaccination

429,661 doses of the vaccine have been administered throughout the Comunidad Valenciana. A total of 121,246 people have completed the vaccination programme in our region.
