Second dose of Pfizer will be administered to under-60s but with option to choose AstraZeneca

The region will offer Pfizer as a second dose for those who have already received AstraZeneca if they so wish.

The regional health minister Ana Barceló took part in a meeting of the National Health Interterritorial Council on Wednesday where it was agreed that people under the age of 60 who have already been administered with the AstraZeneca vaccine will receive the Pfizer type as their second dose.

However, Barceló said that the people in the Comunidad Valenciana will be offered the option to receive the AstraZeneca as their second dose if they so wish, for which they will need to sign an informed consent agreement.

To prepare the form, the regional health ministry has requested a report from the Bioethics Committee. Barceló said that “the Comunidad Valenciana has defended the position in the Interterritorial Council with the main of offered the greatest health guarantees to all the region’s citizens”.
