The free summer school offered by the town hall in Xàbia for children of working families is returning this July and August after the enforced break due to the pandemic, an initiative combining leisure and education which helps families who will be working through the summer and is open to boys and girls aged between 3 and 14 years.

The Escoleta d’Estiu will be running Monday to Friday from Monday 4th July until Friday 26th August and the councillor responsible for supporting and developing childhood in Xàbia, Montse Villaverde, explained that the initiative will be adapting activities to the different age groups of the participants so that they can enjoy the summer.

There are two groups: the first is for children aged from 3 years (who are already enrolled in the first year of early childhood education) and up to 10 years old and will be operating from 9.00am until 2.00pm at the CEIP Graüll facilities in Avenida Ramón Llido. Requests can be made for a single month or for both. (If demand requires, an early morning schedule will be established from 7.45am to 9.00am.

The second group is more focused on young people from 10 to 14 years of age and will be hosted by the PlayJove centre in Plaza de la Constitución from 9.00am to 2.00pm. It will offer a varied programme of technological activities, an escape room and water activities. Requests can be made for fortnightly periods up to the full two months.

Those interested in applying for a space for their child can do so from Wednesday 8th June at the registry in the OAC building in Portal del Clot and the registration period will remain open until Thursday 16th June.

The granting of spaces will be linked to the scale of documentation provided, based on the criteria to be assessed and does not depend on the order of registration. Once all the applications have been evaluated, those successful will be contacted directly by telephone.

For many years, you’ve told us how much you love what we’re doing and some of you have even asked for ways to say thanks. For us, there really is nothing easier to show someone how much you appreciate their efforts than buying them a beer (or a wine; or even a coffee) – it’s so simple.
