Temperatures surpass 36°c in Xàbia as another heatwave sweeps across the peninsula

Elsewhere, Valencia Airport recorded the hottest temperature in Spain yesterday with 46.8°c.

The thermometer reached 36.6°c at the weather station of Barranqueres yesterday as Xàbia experienced its second hottest day of a cruel summer in which several heatwaves sweeping across the Iberian peninsula to push daytime temperatures to near record levels.

Elsewhere in the Marina Alta interior, the thermometer comfortably broke the 40°c barrier yesterday with the weather station of Madrigueres in Dénia recording 44.0°c whilst the centre of Pego hit 43.9°c, Orba reaching 42.3°c and Benialí in the Vall de Gallinera recording 42.3°c.

The highest temperature recorded across the Comunidad Valenciana yesterday was 46.8°c at Valencia airport, the top temperature in the whole of Spain as the eastern seaboard of the country endured the heat.
