The renovation of children’s play area in Parque Reina Sofía in Thiviers has begun this week, a 293,000 euro project which has been long demanded by the youngsters in the neighbourhood. The work is being carried out by a temporary consortium called UTE Parque Jávea, consisting of Del Valle Informes y Proyectos and Emyplan S.L.

The comprehensive change of the 3,000 square metre space will take seven months to complete and will involve the renovation of play areas, pavements and lighting as well as changes to the landscaping to ensure better maintenance of the square whilst retaining the large trees to provide some shade to its users.

The play area will be divided into three zones: a children’s playground area developed on the theme of ‘Siete Mares’, a sports area with basketball hoops and goals, and a third area for circuit training for the older members of the community.

On completion of the work, access to the playground area by animals will be limited and a fence will be installed which, along with the reorganization of the access points, will allow the square to be closed at night to prevent vandalism.
