Once again, the first charity event of the year will take place on the Arenal beach of Xàbia on Sunday 1st January, raising money for social causes in the region. Organisers Stephen and Christine from the Lancashire Bruja have confirmed that this year’s collection will support the work of the Cruz Roja Xàbia as well as people suffering from Alzheimer’s or dementia.

The swim will take place at 1.00pm and bathers will have to endure at least ten minutes in the water. Those who want to participate can meet at the Christmas tree on the Paseo del Tenista David Ferrer at 12.30pm, preferably in fancy dress. There will also be “elves” wandering the promenade collecting any loose change people may have to support the two causes.
