Plenty of bathers brave chilly waters on the first day of the year in Arenal

Monday 3rd January 2022 – CARLOS LÓPEZ with Mike Smith

Faithful to an appointment. As has been tradition for many years, a large number of people took their first bathe of the year on New Year’s Day on the Arenal beach, a charity event organized by The Lancashire Bruja, which was suspended last year due to the high incidence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With many more observers than bathers, the participants entered the water with their swimsuits or with various costumes and fancy dress. It is a holiday, to celebrate the New Year and good resolutions for the one that has just begun. A day, which is also characterized by high temperatures, which allows more and more people to take up this challenge every year.

All this with a charity component as the organizers collect funds for different social causes in the region and this year it was for the Cruz Roja Jávea and Aspanion.

In the coming days, the organization will announce the amount collected and the purpose for which it will be used.
