Music and dancing will evoke the spirit of the Fogueres de Sant Joan

Pasadobles, traditional dance and costumes will bring some life to the fiestas that can’t be this year.

Monday 21st June 2021 – PRESS RELEASE with Mike Smith

For a second year, Xàbia is without its traditional festivities of the Fogueres de Sant Joan, arguably the biggest party of the year in our town. However, two of its most significant ingredients – the pasodobles and the traditional – will still be present in a symbolic way.

The music band of the Centre Artístic Musical de Xàbia (CAM) and the Grup de Danses Portitxol have organised two special performances so that Xàbia can still experience some of the festive atmosphere.

Tuesday 22nd June, 8.00pm, Ruirau d’Arnauda
CONCERT DE PASODOBLES

CAM Xàbia will be offering a repertoire typical of the parades: pasadobles such as Tio Ramón, Segrelles, Quelo and Eduardo Borràs. Admission is free but, as always in the current climate, there will be limited capacity so it is advisable to reserve, either by telephone on 965·794·344 or via email on reservacultura@ajxabia.org.

Thursday 24th June, 7.00pm, Riurau d’Arnauda
TRADITIONAL DANCING and COSTUMES
The Grup de Danses Portitxol will be performing a series of traditional dancing and songs, dressed in the traditional costumes. Again, admission is free but there will be limited capacity so it is advisable to reserve, either by telephone on 965·794·344 or via email on reservacultura@ajxabia.org.

The cultural programme for next weekend also includes the second part of the Performing Arts festival, subsidized by the Alicante Provincial Council, which takes place in the Riurau d’Arnauda and has free access. On Saturday 26th June, at 7.00 pm, there will be a dance show by the Marroch company entitled Entre Nosotros while on Sunday 27th June, at 12 noon, the festival will close with a last circus performance, with the Arritmados company and its show “Reparte Amor“. Admission to both events is free but there will be limited capacity so it is advisable to reserve, either by telephone on 965·794·344 or via email on reservacultura@ajxabia.org.
