Xàbia Council has published the terms and conditions of the 2024 Social Employment Plan in the Alicante Province Official Gazette, an initiative which offers 42 jobs (16 labourers, 8 officials of works, public roads, gardening-forestry; 4 cleaners and 14 vacancies for caretaker and guards of public spaces).

The contracts are for the remainder of 2024, and applications can be submitted from today Monday 29th April until Tuesday 28th May at the registry at the Oficina de Atención al Ciudadano (OAC) in the Portal del Clot municipal complex or through the headquarters electronic office.

Some of the requirements to apply for one of the 42 jobs in the social plan are that the applicant be registered in the public employment service for a minimum of 1 month, not be receiving unemployment benefits or subsidies greater than 500 euros, be Spanish or EU citizen or other nationality with free movement of workers, be in possession of a Cat B driving license, and be up to date with tax obligations with the local council.

When selecting beneficiaries, the terms and conditions include merits such as the length of time the applicants have been unemployed, being part of a family unit beneficiary of aid from the Department of Social Services in Xàbia during 2023, be designated as a member of a large family, have a mortgage or pay rent in Xàbia, and single-parent family or a dependent family member. In addition, the applicant will benefit from having experience in similar positions.

After publication in the Provincial Official Gazette, the mayor, Rosa Cardona explained that, through this initiative, the local government body “continues to support the families of Xàbia by giving them the opportunity for employability and social inclusion“.

The councillor responsible for Personnel, Enrique Escrivá, added the effort made by the technicians of his department to develop the terms and conditions of the 2024 Social Employment Plan and said that that the profiles offered will allow “reinforcing of the brigades of the Department of Services as well as the caretakers for municipal buildings”.

The selected jobs will allow teams to be allocated to the prevention of forest fires, the adaptation of plots and municipal green areas, the cleaning and maintenance of ravines and the Gorgos river bed, and the cleaning of public roads. The caretakers and guards will be in charge of the custody, surveillance and/or control of public spaces, cleaning, repair and maintenance of municipal buildings, among others.
