It was expected that CD Jávea would build on their victory in Alberic in the home game against bottom club Muro CF. However, the opponents had found new form with a new coach at the helm, held firm in defence and even mounted some dangerous counter-attacks that would trouble the home side.

CD Jávea started slowly, passing the ball with some lethargy and with little depth. Both sides aimed to control the centre of the park and it soon became apparent that it would become a game that would be more tactical than entertaining.

And it was the away side that would take the lead after 26 minutes on one of those counter-attacks, some solid passing resulting in a defence-splitting through pass to Eugeni Alos who slotted the ball comfortably past Tonet to put Muro into a 1-0 lead.

The home side reacted immediately and should have equalised within minutes but a cross from Tomás was put narrowly wide by Borja. And then Jávea had a break when Muro’s Samu Sánchez was sent off for receiving two yellows just a couple of minutes before half-time and the home side took advantage by smashing home an equaliser through Adrián Ramis right on the stroke of the break.

For the second-half, head coach Juan Carlos Signes changed Jávea’s shape, bringing on youngster Carlos Bisquert for Álvaro Tiscar, shifting Javi back into the centre and it might have come to fruition when Carlos scored, the ball deflecting off him from a shot from Javi but the ‘goal’ was ruled out due to offside.

Despite the numerical advantage, Jávea couldn’t find the chances to take the game. There was a lot of movement in the centre but there was a distinct lack of service to the front men and the only chance fell to Borja who met a cross by Marcos but fired high with the keeper beaten.+

It finished 1-1, a share of the spoils and a fair reflection of the game.
