CD Thader vs. CD Jávea
Campo Municipal de Rojales
Partido de Bo Astrom Nº 101, 24
03170 Rojales (Alicante)

Could this be the first six-pointer of the campaign, so early in the season? The team from Rojales prop up the table with just four points and four goals from nine games but have found the back of the net in recent games and recorded their first victory a couple of weeks ago, a home win against club-in-chaos CD Dénia. Meanwhile CD Jávea’s faltering start to the season needs another boost, especially after the disappointment of last weekend’s home draw, although young striker Pitu showed us what he can do with a bit of space in front of the goal. It’s another early kick-off with a long journey south to the very extremes of the Comunidad Valenciana and that didn’t go down well two weeks ago in Redován.

The Opposition

CD Thader was formed in 1923 and is named after the old Thader bridge which runs over the River Segura in the heart of the town of Rojales, the crossing appearing in the football club’s crest. The club initially played its games within the auspices of the FFRM, the Murcian Football Federation, and reached the national Third Division in the mid 50s, competing in three seasons before suffering relegation back into the regional system at the end of the 1958/59 season.

In 1987-88, CD Thader transferred to the Valencian Football Federation, playing in the Regional Preferente southern group until the structural organisation saw them drop to the Primera Regional, despite finished 14th out of an 18 team league. Relegation at the end of the 1999-2000 season saw them drop into the Segunda Regional before climbing back to the Primera Regional in 2004 on the strength of a position becoming available, despite finishing 7th. The following season, CD Thader finished top of the pile in Group 7 to win promotion back to the Regional Preferente and within two seasons they were back in the national Third Division for the first time since the 1950s. They lasted just a single season, finishing 18th and suffering relegation back to the Regional Preferente where they remained until their 9th place finish last season allowed them to join the inaugural Lliga Comunitat.

Previous Meetings

CD Jávea and CD Thader first met competitively in the 1987-88 season in the Regional Preferente Sur, both clubs winning their respective home games 3-1. They have played each other 14 times, both winning six games and drawing the remaining two and both clubs have scored 23 times against each other; it’s a very balanced head-to-head record. However CD Jávea have won just twice in Rojales.

The last time we met
15/05/2011 – CD Jávea 2-2 CD Thader
Two goals from Armando and Duque, the former finishing the season as the club’s top scorer with 11 goals, secured a share of the spoils at the Campo d’Esports in the penultimate game of a season which saw the ‘rojiblancos’ finish in 11th spot, a credible position after starting the campaign with five straight defeats which left them rooted to the bottom of the table by the start of October. CD Thader finished three spots above in 8th spot.
