The Marina Nou Fontana de Xàbia sports port has prepared a special awareness campaign for the forthcoming summer season called Respect Posidonia, which will be mainly mainly at those who have boats moored in the port and users of the access ramp to the Fontana Canal.

As reported by the sports port in a statement, the campaign is part of a project being carried out by Marina Nou Fontana for social awareness about the compatibility of recreational boating with environmental protection. “We believe that the path is to transmit the importance of being able to enjoy the coast of Jávea responsibly to sea lovers and those participate in recreational sailing. We are committed to the path of awareness and not restriction.”

An informative brochure will be distributed to all users of Marina Nou Fontana explaining the practical measures that they can take to avoid bad practices which could significantly damage the Posidonia meadows. In addition, a banner has been placed in front of the Parador de Jávea and a mural inside the Canal de la Fontana with the message “Respect Posidonia” which will be visible to all users of the port facility.

“This is the commitment that we acquired … to help the compatibility of recreational boating and environmental protection. We believe that this awareness, together with the effort made by the town council to facilitate anchoring, is the way for recreational boating to continue to be a very important part of the tourism sector in Xàbia and to be compatible with respect for the environment.”
