Summer Spanish courses for foreign residents of Xàbia have begun, an initiative promoted by the Department of Resident Relations, headed by councillor Toni Molina, in collaboration with the Diputación de Alicante, to encourage their integration into the local community.

The courses, which will run over the next four weeks, are taking place in the facilities of the Municipal Library in Carrer Major and the 60 students who successfully registered have been divided into two levels: Basic and Intermediate.

The councillor explained that these courses allow foreigners who come to live in the town to be able to start learning the language or improve on what basics they already know, guided by teacher Isabel Sodric.

He also invited them to claim their free membership card at the Municipal Library which will allow them to borrow books in both Spanish/Valencian to help improve their learning.

The Municipal Library is also open to all residents of Xàbia and includes an international section with books in English, French, German and Dutch which is managed by the international residents themselves in collaboration with the library staff.
