The local branch of the Cruz Roja has carried out specialized training for lifeguards on the cliffs of Xàbia to provide lifeguard personnel with the tools and specific knowledge to carry out rescues in difficult places along the coast.

The training, which has been carried out since 2017, is located on typical rocky places along the coastline to safely carry out the training to deal with incidents that almost always happen during the summer season in such spots at Cala Tangó, Cap Negre, Les Pesqueres, En Caló and Cala Ambolo.

Experienced lifeguards took part in the workshop alongside those who have joined the service in the past year and all participated in exercises to practise rescues with boats, trauma care, evacuation of the wounded from caves and cliffs, and support for medical teams in emergency situations.

The 42 participants almost took part in additional rescue training in aquatic lifesaving adapted to the difficult conditions that the coastline of Xàbia presents.

Councillor Juan Ortolá (Beaches) explained that this training provides the lifeguard service to be at the forefront and be prepared to deal with any emergency situation that can happen on the beaches and coastline of Xàbia and he thanked the entire Cruz Roja team for their special dedication and effort to keep safe residents and visitors alike.
