Xàbia receives the Torch of the Marina Alta Minijocs on Wednesday

More than 250 young athletes will be representing Xàbia in the special games in May.

On the evening of Wednesday 5th, young representatives from Xàbia aged between 12 and 13 will be present when Xàbia receives the Torch of the XIV Marina Alta Minijocs Olímpics which this year will be held in Pego and have the participation of 17 municipalities of the Marina Alta.

A parade will leave the athletics track next to CEIP Graüll at 6.00pm with the youngsters accompanying the torch along a special route to the town hall to make the local population more aware of this special regional competition.

The parade will travel along Calle Ramón Llído, Calle Virgen de la Merced, Ronda Sur, Ronda Colón, Placeta del Convent, Avenida Príncipe de Asturias, Plaza Marina Alta, Tossal del Dalt and Calle San Marcos to arrive at the Plaza de la Iglesia. At the Placeta del Convent and at the end of the parade, members of the Club Rítmica Xàbia will offer a small performance. The parade will be received by the municipal authorities at the doors of the town hall where a manifesto will be read.

Xàbia will be represented in May’s Games by more than 250 young athletes in disciplines such as athletics, basketball, mountain biking, chess, soccer, futsal, rhythmic gymnastics, handball, karate, paddle tennis, tennis and volleyball from Club Esportiu Llebeig, Club Bàsquet Juventut Xàbia, Club d’Escacs Xàbia, CD Jávea, CD Montgo, Club Gimnàstica Rítmica Xàbia, Club Handbol Xàbia, Club Karate Washinkai Jávea, Academia de Tennis Ferrer, Club Voleibol Xàbia and Xàbia Esports Municipal Schools.
