Seasonal services will start deploying to the beaches in Xàbia from June 15th

But only one of the five beach bars has officially confirmed with the local council that it will be opening this season.

The sunbeds and umbrellas will be arriving on the beaches on Xàbia from Tuesday 15th June, according to councillor Toni Miragall (Tourism) after an enquiry from XAD.

The councillor explained that there have been various meeting between the Department of Tourism and the concessionaires of the seasonal services during the last half of May in order to define the framework within which the concessions will be regulated, since the contracts were awarded based on the pre-pandemic conditions and clearly they would not willing to pay the same rates to meet the requirements of social distancing and other health protocols put in place to stop the spread of the COVID-19 infection. In fact, last year the services opened after negotiating a reduction of around 50% with the town council.

However, Miragall could now confirm that the sunbeds and the umbrellas (and the bulk of the season services) will be deployed from Tuesday 15th June on the beaches of La Granadella, La Grava and the Arenal.

With regards to the beach bars – ‘chiringuitos’ – of Primer Muntanyar, the season is less clear with only one concession owner, that of ‘Vive Bonito’, officially confirming to the council that it intends to open, with the bar itself already being built. The councillor confirmed that the four other beach bars have not yet communicated anything to the council about their intentions for this summer.
