This Sunday 1st May, the Lliga d’Handol Platja that will route the Comunidad Valenciana will open the season on the sand of the beach of the Arenal in Xàbia.

Throughout the day, from 9.30am, around 50 games will be played in six participating categories across three beach handball courts, with more than 250 players enjoying the return of the popular Valencian competition.

This first round of the Lliga d’Handbol Platja will not be the only great handball event in town as the Federación de Balonmano de la Comunitat Valenciana (FBMCV) will also be holding the first training camp of regional Beach Handball teams in preparation for the Spanish Championships which will be held over the weekend of June 24th-26th in Sanxenxo in Pontevedra, Galicia.

Xàbia’s Sports Councillor, Alberto Tur, thanked the FBMCV for placing its trust in the town when considering the schedule of its competitions, which he said motivates local players to give the best of themselves before their own people and, at the same time, support the diffusion of the sport throughout the town.

Pep Hierro, director of Club Handbol Xàbia, also wanted to take the opportunity to congratulate the four players from Xàbia who have been called by the Real Federación Española de Balonmano to participate in the training camp for the ‘Guerreras Juveniles de la Arena’ on their way to the World Cup in Greece in June.

Miguel Soria, head of the FBMCV Projects Department, stressed that Xàbia has established itself as one of the leading venues in the Lliga d’Handbol Platja, hosting it for the fifth consecutive edition.
