SD Sueca v CD Jávea

Camp de L’Infantil, Sueca

Referee: José Carlos Caballero Carrillo

There’s a good vibe rolling through the senior squad at CD Jávea right now. A run of five games unbeaten – 4 victories and a draw – suggests that the disastrous period which saw the side chalks up a team game streak without a win and lose their grip on the top spots in Group IV is well and truly over, despite the losses of striker Tali and hugely influential defender Cristian, who have both had to leave the club due to personal reasons.

Xàbia AL DÍA spoke with head coach Lauro Techeira this week as they prepared for the match:

With the latest results, the squad continues to grow in confidence with five games, 4 wins and 1 draw, lifting Jávea back up the table.

We’ve got to be happy with the last games, these results generate a lot of optimism within the squad and they work more calmly and it’s motivating for the players.

Looking ahead to this Saturday’s game against Sueca, Fran is ruled out due to suspension for five yellows and there are a couple of injured players – how has the week gone?

Yes, we can confirm that Fran is out due to suspension, but Paco returns, although he is not 100%, but he can help us against Sueca. We are going to be playing on a difficult pitch against a good side but we will play our style of football and aim to continue our good form.

Last weekend, Sueca won at second-placed Ontinyent so they are going to be confident?

It is difficult to win in Ontinyent, but they got the three points, so they will be very motivated and eager to continue winning.

There is a change in attitude of the team with more pressure from the forwards to the men behind.

In general, all the players are involved in the idea of the game. They like what they are doing and feel comfortable. They all work and we are clear about how we want to play and we must highlight not only the pressure work of the forwards to support the men in the midfield, but that we are a team that when we have the ball we all attack and when we don’t have it we all defend. And it’s the same with the subs who come on like David, scored the winning goal in the 92nd minute last weekend and Rubén, who came on against Ollería the week before, and scored the winning goal .

With the casualties that the team has had, the board of directors has moved to fill the gaps left by players like Tali and Cristian and the good news is that this Thursday, Super Skipper Aldo, who made more than 300 appearances for the club, has begun training with the team and the club will take advantage of the break due to Fallas to re-sign up Aldo to reinforce the defence.
