LORETOFEST WILL CELEBRATE ITS FIRST EDITION IN THE SECOND WEEK OF DECEMBER

The event aims to be an incentive for the celebration of the patron saint festivities of 2024.

Just three months after the end of the 2023 festivities honouring Mare de Déu de Loreto (aka the ‘port fiesta’), the organising committee has revealed details of another opportunity to celebrate with the residents of the town, this time by taking advantage of the fact that the feast day of the Virgen de Loreto (December 10th) falls on a Saturday.

The first ‘LoretoFest‘, an initiative aimed at energizing the Duanes de la Mar zone as well as raise vital funds to finance its projects carried out throughout the year and the festivities next September, will take place over the long weekend in December, offering a modest recreational and cultural programme over three days.

The event will be taking place on Thursday 7th December, Saturday 9th December and Sunday 10th December, taking advantage of the traditional start of the Christmas season in the town as well as the long “puente” weekend of La Constitución and Inmaculada Concepción.

On Thursday 7th December at 7.30pm, there will be a photographic exhibition inaugurated in the port library building in Avenida del Botanic Cabanilles, featuring almost 80 photographs presented during the competition held during the festivities at the end of summer this year, bringing together professionals and amateurs in a single meeting. Prizes will be awarded for the winning images and the exhibition will be open until Wednesday 20th December during normal library hours.

On Saturday 9th December, the Paseo Jaime I in the heart of the port zone will be hosting a day of festivities. Starting at 11.30am, the Fiesta Commission will be opening up a bar that they say will be very different from the ones that they usually offer for drinks and tapas at comfortable prices. There will be music as well as workshops and games for the children starting at 12 noon whilst in the afternoon (4.00pm to 7.00pm) there will be a special maritime tardeo with music from JotaJaybers who will offer a set of the greatest hits of Spanish pop-rock from the 80s and 90s.

At 12 noon on Saturday 10th December – the feast day of Santa Loreto – the Fiesta Commision will be celebrating this special day by honouring the patron saint with a thanksgiving Eucharist in the church of Nuestra Señora de Loreto.
