The Guardia Civil in Alicante have begun its campaign to control the use of jet skis along the coast during this summer. This monitoring service will be carried out by the Maritime Service and by the Territorial Units that are responsible in various coastal areas and other recreational areas in which this activity is carried out.

The aim of this campaign is to improve the safety of bathers and people who come to enjoy the coast of Alicante during the summer and, specifically, the people who use this type of vessel. Traditionally, this service was limited to coast areas but this summer it has been expanded to covers those areas which have reservoirs and lakes where the use of jet skis has also become popular.

The Guardia Civil officers will be in charge of checking certificates of navigability, proof of payment of the insurance premium for the vessel, and that the requirements that the user must meet to drive jet skis are met. They also will ensure that the jet skis are used in the spaces that have been specifically enabled for them. In addition, inspections will be carried out on businesses related to the use and hire of jet skis to raise awareness, both with professionals and sporadic users, so that their use is carried out properly.

The Guardia Civil Alicante has emphasized the need to comply with the rules of navigation and to respect the limits of the bathing areas and that users should remember that it is mandatory to provide documentation to officers when required.
