FERRER SCULPTURE RETURNED TO THE PROMENADE BEARING HIS NAME

The statue was damaged in the summer of 2022, an apparent victim of vandalism.

The sculpture of tennis player David Ferrer has returned to the promenade that bears his name after a restoration process by artist Victor Goikoetxea. The original statue was found damaged back in early July 2022, an apparent victim of vandalism, and removed for repair.

The statue has a new white look which gives it more brightness and a new base has been added. This morning, staff from the Municipal Services Brigade replaced the statue on the plinth at the northern end of the Paseo del Tenista David Ferrer so that it can once again preside over the promenade that is dedicated to this great tennis player from Xàbia.

The promenade was re-named in honour of David Ferrer in 2013 and the sculpture was unveiled in December 2019. In 2022, we reported that an interactive map had listed the tennis player as the most notable person to have come from Xàbia.
