Xàbia Council has modified the fiscal calendar for 2021 once again with the intention of giving options to taxpayers when facing municipal payments in the current circumstances.

Councillor Ximo Segarra (Treasury) explained that the latest measures taken to prevent the spread of infection have caused many small businesses to have to lower the shutters or reduce their hours, which is why the town hall has decided to postpone the first voluntary payment term of the municipal taxes (Taxes on Mechanical Traction Vehicles, Vehicle Entry Tax, Urban Solid Waste Management Tax) which was due to start on February 8th.

The Council has paralyzed the issue of receipts to prevent payment letters from being received when many companies have limited activity or are directly closed. Therefore, the voluntary period is delayed in mid-March (from March 15 to June 14) with the confidence that on those dates the activity will have recovered.

Regarding the IBI (property tax) and the Business Tax (IAE), the voluntary period of payment will remain between August 6th and November 19th, although the collection department has said that it could propose changes if circumstances advise.

The head of the Treasury has reminded that all taxpayers of the possibility of planning the payment method that best suits them to meet their obligations for local taxes (in installments throughout the year) through the Voluntary Personalized Payment System, which also offers discounts to those who pay before the voluntary payment deadlines.

To find out about this system, those interested can consult the municipal website http://ajxabia.com/ver/5212/recaudacion.html or contact the collection area staff either by phone on 966 50 88 61, or by mail on recaudacion@ajxabia.org.

If you need to request an appointment for face-to-face care, you can also manage it electronically via the municipal website https://citaprevia.ajxabia.com/.

Business Meeting

In addition to making these payments more flexible, the Council has approved other support measures for 2021, such as the exemption of the fee for hotel terraces, the suppression of the fee for business opening and works on direct support lines for those it already has initially reserved 1.5 million euros.

Mayor José Chulvi today informed the business associations of these initiatives and has promised that the government team, aware of the sacrifice that small businesses are making, will be by their side in everything that is in their power . At the meeting, Chulvi told them that Xàbia has the “economic capacity and political will” to support them in this difficult situation and has detailed some of the measures that are being valued as well as explaining that the municipality will adhere to the “Pla Resistir” that has been launched by the Generalitat Valenciana.

These issues have also been dealt with in a meeting of representatives held late in the morning, a meeting in which the parties have been called to resume regular meetings to continue outlining the various aid that can be put together.
