ANNUAL WOMEN’S RACE RAISES 3,770 EUROS FOR CHARITY

The money was raised for CARENA cancer aid association and for TAPIS.

The annual CURSA DE LA DONA – the non-competitive women’s race – was held last Sunday and raised a total of 3,770 euros for the cancer support association CARENA and for psycho-social support association TAPIS.

Some 721 people participated, most women but also some men, in two categories, the race and the walk, the latter having the largest participation, along a pre-prepared course between the town and the port.

After the event, mayor Rosa Cardona and the councillor responsible for Equality, Fátima Jarjor, presented the donations to representatives of both associations as well as awards to the participants who recorded the best times in the race and the youngest participants (a ten-day-old baby) and the oldest (a women born in 1939).

There were also several raffles on offer with gifts provided by local companies.
