Xàbia’s Mateo Carbonell represents Spain in the Optimist European Championship in Greece

The young sailor will be competing against the best junior Optimist sailors in Europe

Young sailor Mateo Carbonell, a member of Club Náutico de Jávea, has travelled to Greece as part of the Optimist national team which will represent Spain in the prestigious European Championships that will be taking place in the Gulf of Tssaloniki next week.

Carbonell joins several other talented sailors from across Spain, including Marta Ferrando (Real Club Náutico de València), Juan Bennssar, Nikko Palou and Martina Gomila from the Balearic Islands as well as Iker Múgica and Anna Rentenría from Catalonia. The team will be led by Kiko Igual as Team Leader and Álvaro Martínez as coach.

Carbonell has shown great talent and dedication in Optimist sailing, becoming a benchmark in his category. His participation in the European Championship is a recognition of his skill and effort as well as an opportunity to represent his country on the international stage.

The European Championships will be taking place between Saturday 15th July and Saturday 22nd July in Tssaloniki in the northern reaches of the Aegean Sea and will bring together the best junior Optimist sailors from across Europe for what promises to be an exciting battle for the European title.
