Tuesday 3rd August 2021 – PRESS RELEASE with Mike Smith

The Alicante Provincial Council has awarded a grant of 292,604 euros to Xàbia Council as part of its +Cerca 2020 plan which is aimed at supporting municipal projects and infrastructures.

The local government presented two projects which would specifically be funded by this provincial aid: the comprehensive renovation of the Parque Reina Sofia in Thiviers, which has a budget of 387,291 euros, and the road re-surfacing plan for this year, an enormous project for which 1,072,000 euros has been put aside. Councillor Montse Villaverde (Project and Subsidies) explained that these two projects will be supported by 100,000 euros and 192,604 euros respectively.

The +Cerca 2020 Plan is a project of direct financial support to municipalities, which gives them the autonomy to decide the destination of subsidies. The distribution of the investment in each municipality of the province has been made according to criteria such as the registered population on January 1st 2019, the area of the municipality in square kilometres, the population density, the dispersion of the population taking into account the number of districts in the municipality, and the depopulation of the municipality in the past ten years.
