Xàbia Council has made available a total of seven plots to the regional government which will be used to integrate into the plans promoted by the Generalitat Valenciana to promote public housing under an affordable rental regime.

Mayor José Chulvi and the councilor Pepa Gisbert (Town Planning) met with the regional housing secretary, Alejandro Aguilar, to discuss the project in depth, which is included in the European Recovery and Resilience Funds managed by the regional government, and thus open the channels of collaboration between both administrations to begin to respond to the great need for affordable housing in the municipality.

Chulvi explained that the regional government have been very receptive to the project and to the interest of Xàbia in being part of this important plan. In fact, after the city of Valencia, Xàbia has been the municipality to offer more land than any other in the region, in addition to offering any necessary economic collaboration.

For his part, the regional secretary explained that the objective of the regional government is to take advantage of European funds to develop affordable rental housing on public land and that a series of meetings has been initiated with the municipalities that have already shown a willingness to join together to establish contact and establish the necessary collaboration channels to materialize these properties, specifically intended for social rental.

Both Aguilar and the mayor have agreed on the importance of opening this collaborative process and addressing an increasing need in municipalities such as Xàbia, which have a real estate market highly conditioned by its tourist nature.
