XÀBIA DISTRIBUTES AID TO SELF-EMPLOYED AND SMEs TO DEAL WITH ECONOMIC CRISIS

Funding ranged from 451 euros for self-employed to a maximum of 8,000 euros for SMEs.

Xàbia City Council has distributed some 315,000 euros in aid to 109 SMEs and self-employed workers in the municipality, a line of subsidies aimed at alleviating the economic crisis caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

65 individual business people and 44 SMEs have benefited, receiving specific aid corresponding to their application based on expenses, amounting to assistance between 451 euros (which one self-employed person has received) and a maximum of 8,000 euros (received by ten SMEs).

Councillor Juanlu Cardona (Economic Dynamization – PP) explained that, when evaluating the applications, the assessment panel took into account that all those who met the rules could receive the aid. In fact, those who missed out are mostly business people whose 2022 returns have been higher than those of 2021.

Cardona highlighted the “enormous effort made” by the staff of the Departments of Economic Dynamization and Finance, especially by councillor Teresa Legay (Finance – PP) to conclude the assessments before the end of the year, which has allowed the transfer of the aid to the successful applicants in the last days of 2023.
