Valencian health authority issues statement on link about non-SIP patients and vaccines

A link doing the rounds on social media incorrectly claims that non-SIP card holders can register for the COVID-19 vaccine.

A statement issued today by the Valencian Health Authority has highlighted a troubling issue for the authorities, due to a link being shared erroneously on social media.

The link – Registro sin número SIP – is only for the use of patients who have symptoms of the COVID-19 infection and don’t have a SIP card. It will register them so that they can receive the appropriate medical attention.

It has become apparent that the link is being shared on social media as a way to register to receive the vaccine for those who aren’t on the state system, i.e. those with private health insurance. This is not the case.

In fact, those registering on the system using this link are actually notifying the authorities that they have symptoms of COVID-19 and, as a result, the authorities are duty-bound to call every individual registration, which is placing an unnecessary strain on the system when people have registered incorrectly.

If a UK national resident in the Comunidad Valenciana does not have a SIP card, they should contact their local health centre to register. This should be done by prior appointment and applicants are advised to call in advance to make arrangements.

No waiting list

In addition, there are rumours being spread that there is a waiting list for vaccines. This is not the case. According to the authorities, there is no list. Those who are eligible for vaccination will be vaccinated according to the risk group that they belong do, as per the wider vaccine rollout.
