Better safe than sorry. This is the summary of the message that the Local Police of Xàbia has launched after several similar incidents in recent days that could have had worse consequences. This is not new news, especially during the winter season. Local security forces have indicated that, in recent days, they have had to respond to incidents caused by the mismanagement of active embers in fireplaces or barbecues. Two of these incidents took place on Christmas Day.

In both cases they affected natural fences on private plots. However, it is also common for these badly extinguished waste to be disposed of in the containers when they are still dormant, causing fires in them.

From the police headquarters, they warn that, during these days, the warning for wind risk is activated, a fact that should encourage greater caution when avoiding any type of situation that could lead to a forest fire, plots, containers, green spots etc. with the consequent danger to people, homes or vehicles.

The local police force asks residents to verify that the embers and ashes are completely extinguished and cold before throwing them into a container or in areas where they can ignite hedges or fences. In this sense, it is recommended to leave them for at least a day in a designated area on your plot or, if available, in a metal drum.
