The Regional Secretary for Tourism, Francesc Colomer, has chaired the meeting of the Comisión de Seguimiento del Bono Viaje, in which the main regional tourist accommodation associations and travel agencies participate and in which the results have been presented since the launch of the 2022 edition of the Bono Viaje, the travel voucher scheme introduced to promote the recovery of the tourism sector in the region.

Thus, so far the Bono Viaje 2022 program has registered a total of 20,742 reservations to travel in the first period of the initiative, from January 17 to May 31.

Colomer explained that “during this first period of the Viatgem Comunitat Valenciana program, a total of 71,629 users have registered and we have already distributed 30,500 vouchers, a figure that increases every fifteen days with new distributions“.

Applicants for the Bono Viaje 2022 program can choose between a short stay with a minimum of two consecutive nights, opting for a 50% discount, or a long stay, with a minimum of 5 consecutive nights, for a 60% discount.

He added that it should be noted that, of most of the reservations that have been made through the Bono Viaje 2022 program, about 88% correspond to short-stay reservations.

This new edition of the Bono Viaje has an initial budget of 15 million euros, and it is expected that 100,000 Valencians will benefit.

Reservations for the Easter holidays

Francesc Colomer explained that “this programme has contributed to promoting tourism by Valencians in the Comunidad Valenciana during these first months of the year”, and has pointed out that “it is also helping to boost the sector during these Easter holidays”.

He explained that “through this program, just for Easter, nearly 4,500 reservations have been registered in accommodation in the Comunidad Valenciana, which reinforces the high occupancy demand of Semana Santa“.

Thus, Colomer added that “the nearly 4,500 reservations that are expected to finally reach represent some 50,000 additional overnight stays in the Comunidad Valenciana for this Easter, helping to boost the economy and employment in the tourism sector“.

Specifically, through the Bono Viatgem Program, a total of 4,130 reservations in tourist accommodation in the Comunidad Valenciana have been registered so far for the days of Easter. By provinces, in the province of Alicante a total of 2,676 reservations have been made, in Castellón 993 and in València 461.

The most requested destinations in the reservations for Easter are Benidorm, Calp, Peñíscola, Altea, València Elx, Dénia, Morella, Finestrat and Alicante.

More than 1000 companies adhered to the program

Currently, the Bono Viaje 2022 program has 1,040 adhered companies (463 from the province of Alicante, 207 from Castellón and 370 from Valencia).

The participating companies range from travel agencies, hotels, tourist apartment blocks or complexes, campsites, rural accommodation and housing management companies for tourist use, all of them registered in the Comunidad Valenciana Tourism Registry.

Finally, Francesc Colomer recalled that “users of the Viatgem CV voucher can contract, in addition to accommodation, different cultural, nature, active tourism or gastronomic tourist experiences to make the experience more complete“.
