Wednesday 29th September 2021 – PRESS RELEASE with Mike Smith

The Thursday weekly market in Xàbia returns 100% to normal after the last modification of the health measures to control the pandemic in the Comunidad Valenciana in which the restrictions on the commercial sector have been lifted. Thus, as of this Thursday 30th September, all the market stalls will be returning to their usual locations distributed across the Plaza de la Constitución, Placeta del del Convent and Plaza de la Marina Alta.

After the total closure that was imposed when the first national state of alarm was declared due to the pandemic (from March to May 2020), the weekly market has been subject to the limitations set by regional decrees for more than a year, with capacity control in place at the entrance and with the market stalls limited to 50%, so they were concentrated in a single space and rotating shifts were established.

Now the weekly market returns to the pre-pandemic conditions and the market stall owners have been notified, who are nevertheless asked to comply with the current health protocols at all times and facilitate further safety for the clients.
