Mateo Carbonell wins bronze in the European Optimist Championship

The young sailor achieved third place to conclude a season of success which includes a fourth place finish in the national championships.

Young Xàbia sailor Mateo Carbonell has won the bronze medal in the European Optimist Championship held in Tsalonica, Greece.

Carbonell had a great championship in which he improved as the days and tests went by, recording very good heats, which placed him in the gold group in ninth position. On the first day of the gold group, he was second in several heats and in one of them he finished top of the pile. On the last day he competed with a medal secured, a bronze.

The sailor from Club Náutico Jávea has managed to put a finishing touch to a season full of successes, which includes a fourth place finish in the Spanish Championship, and shows the level of skills of the yacht club’s optimist fleet since last year another also participated in this European competition and also achieved bronze.
