CD Jávea are still seeking their first win of the season after falling to defeat to CF Independiente Alicante on a warm Saturday evening at the Campo d’Esports Municipal. A goal in each half secured maximum points for the visitors but the home side battled as much as it could and thoroughly deserved the generous acknowledgement from the home fans at the final whistle.

The sides met sharing the same disappointing start to the season with just one point each and no victories. So there was some hope amongst the home faithful that CD Jávea might secure their first win of the season and they turned up in force once again, despite the fixture being changed to Saturday evening.

The nerves were obvious on both sides and there were few opportunities at either end until the visitors starting to gain control of the midfield and snuffed out any delivery options for the Jávea forward line. However, the home defensive line worked hard to contain increasing attacks until another mistake at the back allowed the opposition to open the scoring through Castro. Minutes later, the visitors hit the bar and the home side was hanging on for half-time.

At half-time, head-coach Julio Ivorra made some changes, bringing on Fran Muñoz and Lautaro for the struggling Aldo and Willy, but the opportunities remained few and far between, despite the home side finally gaining control in the centre.

On 66 minutes, the visitors managed to double their advantage through Pastor who was allowed to roll the ball into an empty net after some good work down the left. Finally, the rojiblancos responded and started to create chances, encouraged by the fans in the stand. A good cross from Fran was met by Carlos Bisquert but his effort was comfortably collected by the keeper before Raúl Caudeli fired just past the post.

Encouraged, the home side launched wave after wave of intense attack but nothing would come. All the time, the back line had to be attentive to the counter-attacks that the visitors were more than capable of mounting and the final few minutes turned into an exciting end-to-end battle, perfect for the neutral, frustrating for the home fans as the final whistle brought the match to a close.

After a weekend break, CD Jávea will be making the short journey down the coast to take on CF UD Calpe. The calpinos sit in mid-table after losing narrowly at league leaders CD Eldense “B” at the weekend. Led by former Jávea head coach Lauro Techeira, there will be a few familiar faces in the side, including goalkeeper Cristian Andrada, defender Paolo Ayala, midfielder Michael Tomas and winger Alvaro López.
