A disappointing setback for CD Jávea on a grey and blustery morning, as the home side delivered their poorest overall performance of the season to end a five-game unbeaten run, though at times they still looked the better team, controlling much of the play but lacking a cutting edge in the final third.
The visitors took an early lead from a corner, when a series of rebounds ended with Cambreta forcing the ball over the line. Although Fede got a touch, it wasn’t enough to keep it out. The goal clearly unsettled Jávea, who were slow to react. Maxi flashed a dangerous ball across the face of goal, and Adrián later sent Maverick through one-on-one with Josemi, but he couldn’t find the finish. L’Olleria also had their moments; Fede tipped a Bernat effort over the bar, Paolo headed narrowly wide, and Cambreta missed another header before Maverick’s strike was saved just before the break.
The second half offered little improvement. L’Olleria sat deep and defended well, while Jávea continued to dominate possession but couldn’t break through. A couple of long-range efforts from Edu and Maverick were all the home side could produce. In stoppage time, the visitors nearly doubled their lead, only for Joan Pedro to clear off the line. It ended 0–1, with L’Olleria taking all three points back home.
The match, played in front of a smaller crowd than usual on a chilly, windy Sunday morning, began with a touching tribute to Jávea captain Aldo, honoured for reaching 400 appearances with the club. He received a commemorative shirt from his father and son before kick-off, a proud family moment on a tough day for the team.
