LOCAL POLICE FORCE TAKES ON 15 NEW OFFICERS

The local police force will be continue to be strengthened to recover its staffing levels to normal.

2020-09-01 MS | The Policía Local de Xàbia has permanently taken on 15 new police officers as part of the process to end their temporary status and strengthen the existing staffing levels in the town. The new officers have taken on their new status in the presence of mayor José Chulvi and councillor Pepa Gisbert (Citizen Security).

The officers will be considered “trainees” until they have completed six months of official mandatory training at the Valencian Institute of Public Safety and Emergencies (IVASPE).

This latest intake means that just three police officers remain in a temporary situation, one of whom will be taken on this morning since they are a specific reinforcement due to the COVID-19 health crisis and the new powers that the local police force is taking on.

Councillor Gisbert explained that in the coming weeks, a new hiring process will begin to cover three positions which act in a role similar to traffic wardens and a further five on a permanent basis. These eight new additions will be replacing the officers who have retired over the past couple of years and will mean that the local police force in Xàbia will recover its staffing levels to normal.
