The Comissió de Festes Mare de Déu de Loreto are looking for young people to become the main protagonists of the forthcoming edition of the prestigious Living Chess of Xàbia (‘Els Escacs Vivents de Xàbia’), the only Fiesta of National Tourist Interest in the municipality.

It is not an easy task. There are at least 32 young actors and actresses that are necessary to embody all the pieces that make up a chessboard and to make possible, not only the interpretation of a historical game, but also the representation of a play that is different every year. Although the Commission has not yet revealed the script for this edition, it has hinted that it is a trip to the past, totally linked to the Living Chess and that it is fully current today.

This Wednesday 8th June, the Casal de la Comissió de Festes (located on Calle Severo Ochoa de Aduanas) will open its doors to continue registration. They are looking for boys and girls from Xàbia between 8 and 15 years old who are unique, curious, outgoing, who like acting, music and possess artistic skills. Although the maximum age is set at 15, if any older young person wants to join this theatrical adventure, they are more than welcome to do so.

The organizing group of each representation is also open to any resident who has an interest in enhancing this pioneering initiative in the municipality that has travelled around the world and has been adapted in numerous countries.

Registration hours will be from 7.00pm to 8.30pm. When dealing with minors, the authorization of a responsible adult is required through the signing of a document.

Els Escacs Vivents de Xàbia 2022 will take place on Saturday 30th July and the rehearsals will take place during the afternoons of the same month.

For many years, you’ve told us how much you love what we’re doing and some of you have even asked for ways to say thanks. For us, there really is nothing easier to show someone how much you appreciate their efforts than buying them a beer (or a wine; or even a coffee) – it’s so simple.
