Fogueres 2025 – Nit dels Focs attracts 13,000 to the historic centre for magical night
There were 17 reported incidents during the night, one of which was serious enough for the individual to be taken to Dénia hospital.
The traditional Nit dels Focs of Sant Joan de Xàbia, held on the night of June 23, brought together almost 13,000 people, according to data from the Policía Local, once again becoming one of the most popular events of the Fogueres midsummer celebrations.
Thanks to a large and coordinated security operation, the magical night took place without any serious incidents. The event was attended by a operational deployment formed by more than 75 professionals and volunteer public safety personnel, including 18 from Protección Civil, 10 from ISVH-Balcón al Mar, 10 from Cruz Roja, 3 from Amigos Europeos, a fire brigade detachment, 8 Guardia Civil officers, and 24 Policía Local personnel, ensured the safety and well-being of those in attendance. Furthermore, coordination among all these teams was essential to guarantee a rapid response to any incident.
Monitoring and control of the event was also carried out from the air thanks to the Policía Local Drone Unit, which allowed for more effective monitoring of the busiest areas.
During the night, the health services attended to a total of 17 incidents, mostly of a mild nature, being 11 burn cases, one of which was more serious: a 34-year-old woman was taken to Dénia hospital by the Cruz Roja after suffering burns to both legs after accidentally falling into the Portal del Clot fire. There were five cases of bruises, including one person with a sprained left ankle who was also taken to hospital by the Amigos Europeos unit. There was also attention for eye irritations, without major consequences.
