CHRISTMAS MUSIC ARRIVES IN XÀBIA THIS WEEKEND

Xàbia Historica has also organized a Christmas Fair in the Plaza de la Iglesia

The festive spirit will be flooding the streets of Xàbia this coming weekend as the town’s musical groups embark on an extensive programme that has been put together with the collaboration of the Department of Culture.

On Saturday 16th December at 11.00am, the Centre Artístic Musical de Xàbia (CAM) will be offering its Christmas concert on the playground of CEIP Port de Xàbia with the participation of the musical initiation group, the youth orchestra and the youth band.

In the evening of the same day, at 8.30pm, the church of San Bartolomé in the heart of the historic centre will be playing host to the Christmas concert of the Ensemble de la Casa del Mediterráneo under the direction of Ignacio García Vidal.

On Sunday 17th December at 11.00am, the talented singers of Polifònic Ars Nova will be performing a concert entitled “Carols and Lullabies” inside the church of the Convent of the Augustines, accompanied by the young voices of Petit Ars. Admission costs just 3 euros, which will be considered a donation to assist with the convent’s expenses.

At 8.00pm on the same day, the church of San Bartolomé will be hosting a concert of traditional Valencian Christmas songs performed by the Rondalla Portitxol de Xàbia of the Grup de Danses Portitxol.

Also on offer

On Friday 15th December at 5.30pm, there will be another children’s storytelling session as part of the LA MAR DE CONTES season with “A La Llum de la Llum” at the port library. On the same day, at 7.00pm, the library in the historic centre will be hosting the presentation of issue 34 of the LLETRAFERIT magazine from the Drassana publishing house with its editor Josep Vicent Miralles.

On Saturday 16th December between 10.30am and 6.00pm, the Xàbia Històrica business association will be holding its CHRISTMAS FAIR featuring local associations and producers in the Plaza de la Iglèsia.

Exhibitions

There are also several exhibitions running at the moment: the symbolic look of Esperanza Asensi can be visited at the Casa del Cable until Sunday 14th January whilst Toni Ortolá’s ‘La Força de la Mirada’ can be visited at Ca Lambert until January 5.

In addition, the Soler Blasco Municipal Museum is hosting the traditional nativity scene that the Betlemistes de Xàbia puts together every year.
