Arts Society MA presents Charles Dickens: The Man and His Life Through His Characters

The lecture will take place on Thursday 2nd November at the Parador de Jávea.

The Arts Society Marina Alta continues with its autumn season of lectures with an evening dedicated to the renowned English novelist and social critic Charles Dickens, who created some of the world’s best-known fictional characters. Thus, it is fitting that his life is told through those characters, such as Fagin, Abel Magwitch and Mr Micawber.

‘Charles Dickens: The Man and his Life through his Characters’ will be performed by Bertie Pearce, a highly accomplished actor, magician and lecturer who has toured the world with his magic cabaret show and written articles for newspapers and magazines on entertainment and theatre.

Pearce will call upon his drama experience and Inner Magic Circle background to conjure life to Dickens’ beloved characters and the places they inhabited in Victorian London. His talk will be interspersed with readings of some of the novelist’s most treasured works for what will be a truly Dickensian experience.

The lectures will take place on Thursday 2nd November at the Salones Canor in Teulada at 11.00am (registration at 10.15am) and at the Parador de Jávea at 7.30pm (registration at 6.45pm). Both lectures are priced at 15 euros for guests but are free for members of The Arts Society and seats can be booked in advance by contacting the Arts Society by email at marinaalta@theartssociety.org.
