ALMOST 67,000 EUROS ALLOCATED FOR CLIMBING WALL PROJECT

The project will meet a long-standing demand from the Centre Excursionista de Xàbia

The Department of Sport is to allocate 66,740 euros to the construction of a climbing wall at the Palau d’Esports Miguel Andrés Buigues in the port, a long-standing request from the Centre Excursionista de Xàbia (CEX) for such a facility in Xàbia.

Councillor Toni Molina (Sports) explained that the project will be financed with the help from the Diputación de Alicante, the provincial council, which will allow a suitable infrastructure to be developed on one of the sides of the sports centre.

The climbing wall will measure some 8 metres in height and 5.5 metres in width and will have five climbing routes with belay points and a minimum of 320 climbing holds, translating into 64 square metres of climbable surface. It will be constructed from fibreglass with epoxy resin and can be moved if necessary. There will also be a 2 metre high fence with an access door.
