Xabiero goalkeeper Adrián Ortolá made his debut in the LaLiga SmartBank – the second tier in Spanish football – taking his place between the sticks for Catalan club Girona CF against SD Huesca at the Estadio El Alcoraz in Aragón.

And he marked the occasion by keeping a clean sheet as his side secured victory and all three points, thanks for an early second half goal from striker Samu Saiz. Ortolá performed remarkably in goal and one of his virtues is his excellent touch of the ball which was confirmed with perfect passes from his area, a 100% pass rate, as well as three great blocks which marked a dream debut for the 28-year-old.

The victory means that Girona FC remain in 6th spot and in the play-off zone for the chance of promotion back to the top flight after a three year absence.

Ortolá, who has previously played for FC Barcelona ‘B’, Deportivo Alavés, RCD La Coruña and CD Tenerife, impressed enough for coach Miguel Ángel Sánchez “Michel” to certainly consider him to start against top flight side CA Osasuna in the Copa del Rey this Thursday evening.
