Valencian government declares official day of mourning on 29 October
The tribute marks one year since the deadly storms and floods that claimed 229 lives across the region.
The Vice President and Minister for Social Services, Equality and Housing, Susana Camarero, has announced that the Generalitat Valenciana has approved a decree declaring 29 October an official day of mourning in the Comunidad Valenciana. The date coincides with the first anniversary of the devastating storms and floods that caused 229 deaths and extensive material damage.
Camarero shared the decision during the press conference following the GV Consell’s plenary session, where she also reported on measures related to post-storm reconstruction, housing policy, and social services.
As a sign of condolence and respect for the victims and their families, the decree establishes that official flags will fly at half-mast throughout 29 October on all Generalitat buildings and other public institutions across the Comunidad Valenciana.
