Comunidad Valenciana breaks record with over €12.8 billion in tourist spending

Foreign visitor numbers and spending hit historic highs between January and September, reflecting stronger, higher-value tourism.

For the first time, international tourists visiting the Comunidad Valenciana spent more than €12.8 billion between January and Septemberm an annual increase of 6.6%. During the same period in 2024, total spending reached €12.08 billion. The data, published by Spain’s National Statistics Institute (INE) through its Frontur and Egatur surveys, represent the best figures ever recorded for both arrivals and spending from January to September.

So far this year, average spending per international visitor stands at €1,311 (up 2.35% year-on-year), while daily spending has risen to €140 (up 4.27%), with an average stay of 9.3 days. Visitor numbers also hit a record high, with over 9.8 million foreign tourists (9,824,407) arriving in the first nine months of the year, 4.14% more than in the same period of 2024.

Marián Cano, the Regional Minister for Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism, welcomed the results, noting that they mark “the highest figures in the entire historical series for tourism spending, an essential indicator of the quality and economic impact of the visitors we attract.” She emphasized that “international tourists choosing the Comunidad Valenciana are increasingly looking for higher-value, sustainable, and diverse experiences, which strengthens our position as a competitive, year-round destination.”

She also pointed ahead to next week’s World Travel Market in London, saying the region will attend “with the confidence of continuing to consolidate the Comunidad Valenciana as a preferred destination for international visitors, while attracting new segments aligned with our strategy of diversification and year-round tourism.”

September 2025 Results

In September, the number of international arrivals remained stable compared with the same month last year, totaling 1,192,948 visitors (a slight 0.17% decrease from 2024).

Tourist spending, however, climbed to €1.597 billion – the highest ever for a September – which is up 5.72% year-on-year. Average spending per tourist reached €1,339 (up 5.9%), while daily spending rose 4.34% to €145. The average trip length also increased slightly to 9.2 days (1.5% more than in 2024).
