Consuelo Femenia appointed as new Spanish ambassador to the Netherlands

The xabiera Consuelo Femenia Guardiola has been appointed ambassador of Spain to the Netherlands, an appointment ratified in the last council of ministers held on Tuesday 28th December.

Femenia has a degree in Law from the University of Valencia and in 1992 she began her diplomatic career. She has more than 29 years of experience in the field of international relations and diplomacy. In this sense, she has a broad curriculum that includes positions of different levels in different state secretariats and has been assigned to the embassies of Russia, Nicaragua and the Netherlands and has served as ambassador in Latvia and Malta.

In addition, she has been a deputy representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). She has also served as Deputy Director General for Cultural and Scientific Affairs and Director of Cooperation for Latin America and the Caribbean at the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation. She later became an Ambassador on a Special Mission for the Arms Trade Treaty.
