The funding will be used to support businesses and the self-employed linked with events and celebrations.

Thursday 28th December 2021 – PRESS RELEASE with Mike Smith

Xàbia Council has put aside a total of 427,270 euros in direct aid within the “Recuperem Xàbia” plan, which is aimed at the economic reactivation of the self-employed and SMEs with activities that have been affected by the COVID restrictions.

Councilor Ximo Segarra (Treasury) explained that the commission has assessed a total of 141 requests received, approving 91 of them. The beneficiaries will receive between 2,000 and 8,000 euros according to justified expenses.

As for the applications rejected for not meeting the requirements, the majority failed due to not having the fiscal address in Xàbia or because they had been previously granted other aid.

Segarra has pointed out that 427,000 of the 600,000 euros budgeted have been allocated, which reflects the reception that this complementary line launched by the council has had and the work carried out by both companies and municipal workers when presenting and reviewing documentation .

The councillor explained further that once the resolution is published on the notice board, the payment of the aid will be made effective next week.

Recuperem Xàbia“, complementary to the PLAN Paréntesis of the Generalitat Valenciana (for which another 267,000 euros in aid have also been recently granted), aims to provide subsidies to the self-employed and SMEs of sectors affected by the health restrictions applied to contain the COVID infection, especially those linked to events and celebrations which had not yet been able to benefit from the regional subsidies.

Activities such as beauty salons, hairdressers, sewing workshops, make-up artists and beauticians, florists, leather crafts, leather goods, manufacture of textile articles for the home and restoration, art galleries, retail trade in clothing, headwear, perfumery, kitchenware, household items or toys, teaching staff of various disciplines, massage therapists and teaching academies as well as SMEs with more than 10 workers linked to tourism, sports or cultural sectors.

Since COVID 19 broke out, Xàbia Council has mobilized all its resources to respond to both health and social levels and economic reactivation. In the different lines of direct aid (100% municipal to companies or self-employed with affected activities, to new self-employed and in plans co-financed with the Generalitat Valenciana or the Alicante Provincial Council), the council has allocated more than 4 million euros, to which is added exemption from fees, social employment plans and social benefits. In total, the amount dedicated to recovering the municipality from the impact of COVID is currently around 12 million euros.
