Xàbia’s long-awaited municipal swimming pool opened a month ago and the first few weeks have been very positive. Both free swimming and organised activities have been well received, helping the pool establish itself as a key space for sport, leisure, and social inclusion.

In its first few weeks, the pool has recorded 1,800 reservations for free swimming, made by over 600 individual users, many of whom have booked multiple times. The strong demand shows just how popular the new facility is during the summer months and highlights the positive response to its opening.

The pool has also hosted two consecutive intensive swimming courses, enrolling over 180 students. The initiative has been well received by families and has helped improve the swimming skills of local children and young people.

Alongside private use, the pool has been shared by a variety of local groups and summer activities, including the Club Deportivo Llebeig, Washinkai Karate Summer Campus, CD Jávea Multi-Sport Campus, Club Toroprats, CD Montgó, Club de Rítmica Xàbia, and Club de Baloncesto Joventut Xàbia. It has also been used by Municipal Social Services and the Asilo Hermanos Cholbi. The involvement of these groups highlights the pool’s role as a space for adapted physical activity, inclusion, and social interaction.

Data from the first month shows that the municipal pool not only meets a sporting need but also supports social well-being and brings the community together.
