The Volta a Peu Memorial José Albi, the popular annual run which is set to take place this Sunday 1st March, was presented at a press conference attended by Sports Councillor Toni Molina (PP), José Palacio, president of the Club Esportiu Llebeig Xàbia, and the club’s treasurer, Ana Bisquert.

Toni Molina congratulated the club for organizing this and other popular sporting events that, thanks to the joint efforts of the club and its volunteers, help promote physical activity throughout the municipality. He also encouraged residents to take part and enjoy the sporting atmosphere on Sunday.

José Palacio explained that the main race will cover 10 kilometers and is officially certified, meaning it will be overseen by federation judges. This, along with its inclusion in the Circuit a Peu de la Marina, is expected to draw a large turnout, estimated at around 1,400 runners, including regular circuit participants and federated athletes aiming for strong qualifying results. Those interested in taking part who have not yet registered can still sign up until this Thursday.

The main race will begin at 9.30am, followed at 11.30am by the children’s races, which are expected to attract around 400 young participants. Ana Bisquert detailed that the youth events will range from the “barrufets” category up to junior level. As a new feature this year, all young runners will receive a commemorative medal.

The organizing club also highlighted the carnival-like atmosphere planned for the day, with live music, batucada percussion groups, performances, DJs, and a bar service run by one of the town’s Moros y Cristianos groups. The aim is to turn the event into a true celebration of sport and community for the whole town and the town hall invites residents and visitors alike to join this sporting event, which brings together competition, participation, and a vibrant atmosphere.
